Facebook has recently updated what is being displayed on its “hover cards”, the picture box that appears when you mouse over user and page names. The hover cards now show your cover photo and either profile pictures or a thumbnail map of your location, depending on whether or not your business is linked with a place.
What does this mean for your small business Facebook page?
This new design means a possible increase in page Likes as users can become familiar with your business just by interacting with hover cards on the news feed. And more conveniently for users, they can do all of this without having to navigate away from their main news feed page.
It means a good, quality cover photo is worth investing in. It might be of benefit to make sure the cover photo is appealing when seen in both a large and smaller format, (for the hover cards) and also that your business name can be seen when it’s layered on top of your cover photo.
In short, this new hover card design is a great way for you to take advantage of an opportunity to get more page Likes. If you need help picking a cover photo or creating one contact us today!
